Curtis William Readel was born in Iowa in 1981. He received a BFA from the University of Iowa and his MFA Northern Illinois University in 2009; both with an emphasis in printmaking. He has shown in the surrounding area and overseas, exhibiting in Chicago, New York, Romania, Belgium, Scotland, Ukraine and Estonia. In his current body of work, devalued and shredded US currency is manipulated to form new criticisms addressing themes and ideas of history, self-indulgence, corruption, and financial crises.
