All Star Press and Threadless are thrilled to invite you to the first of many Artist Panel Discussions!
Kicking off this series we have Liz Flores and Kawaii Suga and Nez. As September is Hispanic Heritage Month, we figured the best way to celebrate is to facilitate a conversation with two female-identified, Hispanic artists, who are currently at the top of their game.
Kawaii Suga, born Isamar Medina, is a Mexican-American South Side native. Her art explores the hypocritical social taboos women face, subverting ideas of femininity and control. Just this month, Kawaii Suga painted the Soho Corners and for this event, we'll be releasing an exclusive print with her, based on her mural design!
Liz Flores is a painter and muralist based in Chicago. She is deeply influenced by the everyday human experience, storytelling, and the female body. Working primarily with acrylic paint on canvas, her work is a representation of the human condition through lines, shapes, and abstract figures.
MCing the evening we’ve got the legendary poet and founder of Louder Than a Bomb, Kevin Coval! And of course, Threadless is our partner in making the evening possible. If you're not familiar, Threadless began as a t-shirt company, but has since evolved into a fully remote company with a marketplace, whose goal is to make art more accessible to people and to allow artists to succeed in their craft.
Threadless will be donating proceeds from sales to charity.
