‘Regulars,’ which runs from May 25-June 23 at All Star Press, brings together the latest body of work from Pizza In The Rain. In keeping with PITR’s gritty urban aesthetic, the solo exhibition focuses on Chicago’s tucked-away institutions. From neighborhood bars to newsstands to corner stores, ‘Regulars’ highlights the small businesses that make Chicago shine, and where many locals are proud to call themselves a regular.
Thematically & visually, ‘Regulars,’ is the most Chicago-centric show Pizza In The Rain has put together to date. Each piece draws inspiration from real world Chicago spots. And in keeping with the blue collar nature of the local watering hole, PITR chose to focus on smaller scale works that are more accessible/collectable to the regular patrons that frequent the very institutions that he portrays.
‘Regulars’ is PITR’s debut solo show with All Star Press. He has additionally exhibited at galleries in Miami, Portland and New Orleans, and spearheaded public art projects in New York City, Los Angeles, Paris, Budapest and London. In conjunction with the show's opening reception, taking place Saturday May 25 from 6-10p, All Star Press will also release a PITR wheatpaste starter kit, honoring his work on the streets and encouraging the next generation to get involved.
